Agave, a succulent native to the Americas, is celebrated for its versatility and cultural significance. It’s best known for producing tequila and mezcal, but also serves as a source of food, fiber, and medicine.

While Tequila is arguably one of the most popular uses of agave – it has historically been used in a variety of ways. Its leaves yield sap for sweeteners, fibers for textiles, and even for traditional medicines. This year’s gala honors agave’s rich history, showcasing its contributions to Hispanic and indigenous cultures and economies.
